I breathe tech

From an early age, I have always loved electronics and technology. I can take things apart and put them back together; smart TV’s, gaming consoles and controllers, vacuum cleaners, computers, speakers, and more. I am obsessed with being methodical, detail oriented and having a sharp memory. This allows me to learn and understand complex technology faster than other creatives. From enterprise to consumer facing products, I find it relaxing and enjoyable to break down a new service for average viewer or target audience consumption.

Here’s some of my work

GOOGLE

Understanding your data is crucial. Having easy access to it is even more important. How does Google’s latest cloud product bridge that gap?

Written in 2015 to help Google quickly explain how they were thinking about IoT, and how their Solutions product was the way to approach it all.

These are two of 15 projects I wrote. The others can be viewed here.

Amazon

Amazon will now set up your smart home and devices for you. I wrote a short ad explaining this new service.

The Echo Show was about to be released. It was Alexa with a screen, but what would the screen be used for? Amazon needed to showcase how it was working with developers that customers knew and loved to not just encourage other developers, but excite early adopters to the possibilities of this new smart home device.

Alexa integration with smart homes, offices, hotels, and apartments. But how do you weave all those narratives into one cohesive story?

Same project as before, but with a different developer.

Animation and Hybrid Content

A diverse offering of samples ranging from high level tech to bloopy fun.

This was an especially tricky project. It forced me to learn the ins and outs of cryptocurrencies and their exchange platforms, in addition to favorable features aimed at Chinese markets. It also needed to be written and produced in two separate segments that would allow the video to be stitched together seamlessly.

I have worked with SIC for the last three years. In this 2016 promo, I had a list of all the profession types the conference was looking to entice. However, the ending kept tripping me up. “How can I close this out – there’s no way I have every applicable job title, nor can we fit them all in this 90 second promo.” Then, I figured it out. Whoever was watching this was applicable. The last job is yours, of course.

A hybrid pairing of animation and live action to explain the problem of clothing waste and the solution EVRNU developed to handle it. This video led them to win SVP Fast Pitch competition in 2015.

From the past

I’ve been writing content for a decade. Here are two videos I’m particularly fond of because I still think they’re funny today.

This came out on the Student Unions’ official YouTube Channel to promote Family Weekend. I have never liked playing it safe, and this script is so far from it – I still can’t believe we got away with this.

In 2011, I was tasked with coming up with a script to promote the Off Campus Living Fair – a service for people who didn’t know how to use Craigslist. I couldn’t bring myself to make it a standard announcement. I still laugh at the idea of the characters’ house being barely a shack and spontaneously combusting.

So, yeah.

I write for tech, product announcements, and have a sense of humor.
